David Chalmers (University of Arizona) delivers 'The Matrix as Metaphysics' in the Coombs Lecture Theatre, Friday 27 June 2003

Following 2002's Film and Philosophy Workshop, and the series of seminars on film and philosophy held in 2003, members of the PhD program in Philosophy together with the Philosophy Program at RSSS will once again host a series of occasional seminars on film and philosophy during 2004. Copies of the papers to be discussed are available for photocopying from the mailbox in front of the Philosophy Program at RSSS.

Tuesday 3 February: Discussion of Cynthia Baughman's and Richard Moran's '"A Moment of Clarity": Retrieval, Redemption, Resurrection, and Narrative Time in Pulp Fiction', Creative Screenwriting 1994, 7:00pm, Seminar Room E. Pulp Fiction shown at 4:00pm.

Sunday 27 June: There will be a showing of Fritz Lang's "You Only Live Once" at 16:00 at Baldessin Precinct Building W121. This movie is the topic of discussion of Chapter 2 of George Wilson's book "Narration in Light". A copy of the chapter is available from Daniel Friedrich's pigeonhole, Philosophy Program, Coombs Building.
